Txikito Cocina Vasca
Wednesday, 28th July 2010Although this restaurant opened in 2008 and had been on my radar for some time, it was really an article in the May issue of Vanity Fair that covered David Chang and mentioned this place as one of his favorite neighborhood spots that was the impetus for dinner there a few weeks back. I’m always on the quest to try female chef’s food, and Txikito is helmed by Alex Raij, who, by the way, had some interesting things to say on the subject of sexism in the kitchen. She gained a lot of credibility when she opened Tia Pol a number of years ago, and then went on to open El Quinto Pino with her husband. Txikito is another effort with her husband and is focused on tapas from the Basque region.
